Major Announcement – New Release Build out now!

Introduction:

In this new version build, users can observe new enhancements carried out around Test design configuration and Test case management. These enhancements made will make sure that user gets more power and control over the test generation. Also, users can experience faster test cases generation in this new version build. This blog provides information about the new enhancements provided in this new version build that can provide many benefits to user and wide scope on using the Conformiq Creator tool. In order to interpret what were the new enhancements, it is important to understand what is need of these enhancements which forms the objectives and around which the endeavours were made to help users have better and more efficient testing environment.

Background:

Currently, the testing carried out on models of application under test leads to generating test suites for entire application. Now when application is updated, it is important that for model to be source of truth to these new updates, the model flow should be updated so that the test suites correspond to the updated application. And the updates can be part of a particular sprint in an Agile process or a particular release in a Waterfall process. Moreover, the need of testing these updates can be part of a Functional testing or Regression testing or even Sanity testing. But, in all these aspects, the requirement or focus is to test only the updated part of the application or new changes in an application.

Now, with the current process, user can generate test cases for entire application with additional efforts in sorting out the test suites to get only those required for current scope of testing. To cut down this additional effort, Conformiq introduced the concept of Test Design Configuration. Thus, great endeavours and efforts have been put to leverage and enhance the Test design configuration in this new version release.

Application of Test Design Configuration:

The user can make use of multiple test design configurations to test different parts of an application. For example, in a banking application, only the login form can be assigned to one test design configuration, and only the transaction process can be assigned to different test design configuration. Here, the user need not to design model flow every time for different test design configurations for different testing purpose, instead can have the model flow of entire application once and then try to use only those test targets needed for particular scope of testing by assigning that scope to particular test design configuration. For different scope of testing, multiple test design configurations can be employed. The test targets for each scope of testing can be provided by enabling and blocking the test targets in Conformiq Test Target view. By interpreting proper blocking concept as per the requirement, the user can have faster test cases generation. The targets blocked in a particular test design configuration does not apply to all other test design configurations being used in a project. Each set of targets blocked for a test design configuration are specific. Hence user can make use of this concept and carry out the testing for targeted area or specific flow in model or for the flow that represents latest update in an application under test. This leads to have test cases that represent only updates or targeted area of an application. In addition, by following such a process or using the multiple test design configuration concept, user need not to put extra efforts in sorting out the test suites as mentioned earlier and can have no delay in overall project timeline.

Enhancements:

The user can enable only one test design configuration at a time to undergo test generation. This will help user to have faster test generation, provided user has made proper blocking and enabled only those test targets required for current scope of testing. While switching between multiple test design configuration for different scope of testing, the enhancements are made such that user gets an interactive pop-up message that provides options to directly enable selected test design configuration or to undergo test rendering for currently enabled test design configuration and then enable the selected (other) test design configuration. Here, one important aspect to note down, that in this new version of Creator, the tool will make sure that test rendering is carried out for only enabled scripter of enabled test design configuration with test cases in database. Hence, user is assured that the test suites or the test scripts generated are specific to the enabled test design configuration only which represents a particular testing scope. Therefore, user need not to worry about test cases getting mismatched with other output scripters provided or with other testing scope defined different test design configurations being used in the same project.

The user can observe enhancements provided around test case management, where the exported test cases are stored in separate folder structure. In this new version build, the user can observe separate folder structure hierarchy that stores test cases for a particular scripter of a particular test design configuration. The user can experience the well-organized way of storing test cases such that within a particular test design configuration folder, sub folders of scripters are created that stores the output files generated. Hence the user can find all the test suites generated for different scope of testing assigned to different test design configuration without having loss of any output file of any scripter.

There are certain integration enhancements around Excel and QCALM scripters, and certain minor fixes have also been carried out around test rendering options and Excel Impact analysis files, which altogether contribute to providing more efficiency to user’s testing performance of test case generation and leveraging user to have “faster testing” experience.

Conclusion and Support:

The enhanced features and integrations are deployed with the objective of providing flexibility and convenience to the users. With this enhanced feature, the users are empowered to get more out of every test generation. Conformiq always finds to help their users to have ‘Best Practices’ with Creator, and therefore provides ‘Deployment Guidelines’ documentation which encloses all the rules and best practices of carrying out the testing process, even with the latest version of Creator.
